Oladayo Odunlami
Oladayo Odunlami is a mother, a lawyer, an entrepreneur, a baker, and a Social Service Worker in training. Born in Nigeria, she was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. She practised law for nearly two decades before beginning a new chapter in Canada in 2022 following the death of her husband, Adeniyi.
In Canada, she founded Wendy's Bakehouse and Wendy's Wardrobe. She is currently completing a Social Service Worker diploma at Humber Polytechnic, a calling she describes not as a career change but as the natural destination of everything she has lived through. She also co-leads The Next Chapter, a widows' support group.
When Life Broke Open is her first book; it was written in a kitchen in Toronto, in the early mornings and the late evenings, between cake orders, coursework and the ordinary, extraordinary work of rebuilding a life. She lives in Toronto with her two children.
